Norris complaining that he's "struggling in the dirty air", which is an amusing irony given the brouhaha after qualifying yesterday.

Verstappen is told "B bal 6 and torque 9" are the settings required to sort his brake-balance issues. He was complaining that the rears were biting like a handbrake.

End of lap 38 and Lance Stroll pits. He will receive a trophy from Pirelli for making the softs last that long.

In-car feed shows Verstappen had a moment at Turn 2 as well. But he's clawing the deficit back and is now 4.9s.

That lap was deleted because he went over track limits.

Ring the overtaking bell! Alonso gets by Hadjar for P13.

Stroll, meanwhile, has Carlos Sainz in close attendance.

Lock-up for Verstappen gives Russell a breather – the gap is now 5s. Norris is 1.9s behind Max now.

Hadjar has an engine issue which the team tell him is costing 3-4 tenths per lap. He's got Alonso right behind him in the epic battle for P13.

Gap between the top two stabilised last time around (lap 35) as Russell matched Verstappen's pace. His tyres, you will recall, are six laps younger.

Those are used mediums on Alonso's car according to our data screen, so no wonder he's chafing...

2.8s separate Russell and Verstappen now. Norris 4.5s further in arrears, then 9.0 to Piastri.

Lap 34 and Verstappen has taken half a second out of Russell's lead that time around.

Lap 32 and Verstappen was nearly two tenths faster than Russell last time around.

As with Baku, Aston Martin seemingly gambling on a Safety Car which didn't come.

Not that this will do Lance any good, because if he pits now he'll emerge in to the battle for 17th.

As we begin lap 31, a tip of the hat to Lance Stroll, who is still running on softs in P9.

Guess how happy Fernando Alonso is?

"34 to go."

"If you speak to me every lap I will disconnect the radio."

Let us upspeed you on the gaps between the frontrunners now the pitstop phase is over for them. Russell leads Verstappen by 3.9s, then it's 4.5s to Norris, 9.799s to Piastri, 3.79s to Leclerc, 0.7s to Antonelli, 6.1s to Hamilton. Lawson in P8 is yet to pit.

Alonso also in pit trouble – his new front-right medium-shod wheel would not tighten.

Piastri pits at the end of lap 27 but it's slow... 5.2s!

Looks like the left-rear tyre would not release promptly.

Norris feeds out 4.9s behind Verstappen. He's got a seven-lap tyre life advantage, but how useful is that?

Norris in at the end of lap26 of 62, Piastri now moves into the lead.

Repeat of Monza in progress at McLaren as Norris is told that Piastri needs to pit to stay ahead of Leclerc. Is he willing for Piastri to pit first...?

No he is not.

Hamilton emerges ahead of Liam Lawson, 2.2s behind Nico Hulkenberg, in P9.

Bit of a lucky break for Verstappen as Lewis Hamilton pits out of his way to get onto hards. Not a very quick stop for Ferrari.

Antonelli now 4s ahead of Hamilton so he's clearly been uncorked a little by Leclerc pitting.

"Everything is working against me in this race" Max tells engineer Gianpiero Lambiase when told "You're free to push".

Sub-optimal outcome for Leclerc as he emerges behind Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber. Hulk makes it difficult but Leclerc gets by.

Ample demonstration of the strength of the undercut there as Hadjar has to get his elbows out at pit exit to stay ahead of Colapinto.

Norris stays out next time around, too. He sets his fastest lap of the race so far, 1m37.016s.

It was a three-second stop, so mid-pace by Red Bull standards. Max is going to need to max-imise the rich potential of the undercut here.
