F1 Miami GP Live Commentary and Updates - FP3 & Qualifying

Saturday's updates ahead of the F1 Miami Grand Prix

Lando Norris, McLaren MCL36, passes Carlos Sainz Jr., Ferrari F1-75

Charles Leclerc leads the F1 drivers’ standings by 27 points from Max Verstappen following the Dutch driver’s domination at the Emilia Romagna GP two weeks ago, as Ferrari heads the teams’ standings by 11 points from Red Bull.

Final practice for the Miami GP gets underway at 6.00pm BST (1.00pm local time), followed by qualifying which starts at 9.00pm BST (4.00pm local time).

Verstappen to the top now with a 1m:29.202s. Perez is 0.4s slower and slots into P2.
Schumacher post the first lap in the session with a 1:30.423s as Leclerc and Sainz fire in 1:29s with their first laps.
Interestingly Q1 ran without incident. Touch wood that we can get through without any stoppages.
Zhou has informed his team to report the traffic issues he suffered towards the end of that session.
Leclerc tops Q1 with a 1:29.474s from the Red Bulls of Verstappen and Perez, with Sainz in P4.
Magnussen was 0.130s shy from sneaking into Q2. His Haas team-mate Schumacher ended the session P11. A decent showing from Mick.
Alonso manages to climb out of the drop zone and into P6 with a last ditch effort.
Hamilton hauls his Mercedes to P5. Alonso, Zhou, Albon and Latifi are the bottom four.
Only four minutes remaining in Q1. Hamilton is on an out lap. Schumacher, Albon, Hamilton and Latifi in the drop zone.
Hamilton is sitting in the drop zone in P16 after he loses a lap for exceeding track limits at Turn 15.
Alonso brushes the wall at Turn 16. Lucky to get away with that.
Verstappen has slotted into P2 with a 1m29.836s. The world champion and Leclerc are the only drivers to log times in the 1:29s bracket.
Sainz goes fastest for Ferrari but he is eclipsed by his team-mate Leclerc, who posts a 1m29.474s.
Latifi, Albon, Vettel and Bottas are in the bottom four currently. Bottas is yet to set a time.
Hamilton sits P12 as he battles to control a sliding rear end on his Mercedes at Turn 7.
Russell is 0.572s adrift of the pacesetting Verstappen. Zhou now jumps up to P5 in the Alfa Romeo.
Russell pumps in a time to move into P3 in the Mercedes.
Gasly has had a lap deleted for exceeding tack limits at Turn 15.
Verstappen goes fastest with a 1m30.235s. Red Bull team-mate Perez slots into P2.
We are expecting times to tumble into the 1:29s in the battle for pole.
A flurry of times coming in now. Sainz to the top now with 1:30.858s. The Ferrari driver is the first into the 1:30s bracket.
Magnussen sets the first timed lap with a 1m33.148s in the Haas.
Sainz has headed out onto the track so hopefully his car is okay after a flurry of action in the garage.
With Ocon unable to take part, only four cars will be knocked out of Q1.
The grandstands are filling up as the cars are about to head out into pit lane.
So Red Bull had the pace in FP3, will be interesting to see if Ferrari has an answer for them in qualifying.
Ferrari are working on Carlos Sainz's car. This could be a close call. Nine minutes until the start of qualifying now.
Got to say this event is providing Gold Coast 600 vibes for any Supercars fans out there.
Conditions remain hot, dry and humid. Temperatures have come down a notch. Air temperature 34 degrees, track temperature 53.8s degrees.
A bit of news to bring you. Alpine's Esteban Ocon won't be in action in qualifying following his crash in FP3. Here is the latest.
