Gasly, Colapinto and Tsunoda exit the pits on hard Pirellis.

Stroll, Alonso and Hadjar head out. Medium, medium, hard in terms of tyre choice.

Don't expect fireworks from the Astons, they're probably just scrubbing in those tyres and will be back in ere long.

In case you were wondering what happened to Oscar Piastri yesterday, when he was summoned to the stewards for being sent out of the garage too early in FP2, the outcome was just a reprimand and a "don't do it again" to the McLaren garage crew.

AND WE'RE OFF

Nico Hulkenberg first out on track, on medium tyres according to our data widget.

We're about to go live with FP3. This promises to be a fascinating session as we look forward to quali this afternoon.

The field was densely packed yesterday, particularly in FP2. As George Russell pointed out, normally if you're three tenths off the McLaren you're not that unhappy because you're probably in P4. Yesterday that would have put you around the back end of the top 10.

V8 PLANS GO ON HIATUS

In other news, plans to accelerate the reintroduction of naturally aspirated V8s to 2029 rather than 2031 have been thrown into disarray because the engine manufacturers aren't hugely keen. FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem seems to have picked up on which way the wind is blowing there, so a meeting planned for this week has been kicked into the long grass.

Here's a shot of the Prez with professional contrarian Jeremy Clarkson. Captions please! We'll kick off with "Oi oi Jezza, is it true you're paid £1 a word?"

GASLY BUSINESS

Good news this morning (depending on your optics) as Pierre Gasly renews with Alpine until 2028. Jack Boxall-Legge has composed a detailed analysis of the significance of this move – Gasly is undoubtedly at the top of his game.
