And that's it from FP2

All that soft-tyre action was merely in service of doing practice starts, though there was a brief scare for McLaren when Norris emerged from the pits and Piastri nearly tripped over him on the run to Turn 1.

Verstappen's last run was 15 laps on used mediums. He was hustling and, quite frankly, it looked messier than Gregg Wallace's sock drawer.

We'll be back tomorrow for FP3

FP2 ended with the top three in the same order as FP1 - Norris, Piastri, Leclerc - and Red Bull seem very far away, even though this was a track where its car was always likely to struggle.

Fascinating to see the two Aston Martins fourth and fifth, albeit half a second off the ultimate pace. Will that be enough to put a smile on Lance Stroll's face? Over to our roving reporters on site...
