That result means Norris has topped every practice session this weekend, so read all about it before we come back for qualifying:

FP3 has now come to an end and Norris remained the only driver to have gone into the 1m8s.

He topped the session in a McLaren 1-2 with Russell in third.

The Alonso-Russell incident will now be investigated after the session.

Well that was...something. Alonso and Russell collided at the pit entry with the Aston Martin closest to the wall.

The Mercedes cut across to seemingly enter the pitlane, but Alonso was attempting to overtake on the right. It looks as though Russell didn't commit to his line enough and failed to see Alonso coming.

Piastri improves but not enough to go top, as he is 0.242s off his McLaren team-mate.

Wow, laptimes really are getting faster now! Norris goes back to the top of the leaderboard with a 1m8.972s, which is 1.148s faster than second-placed Piastri.

That is faster than his pole time from last year, a 1m9.673s.

All three tyre compounds have been used in FP3. Piastri is fastest on the softs (1m10.120s), Russell on the mediums in third (1m10.470s) and Bearman in sixth on hard rubber (1m10.626s).

It has been a tough season for Alpine, which is bottom of the constructors' standings. Its drivers are currently 17th and 19th in FP3 and parent company Renault has just appointed a new CEO.

However, Alpine's executive adviser Briatore has confirmed this will have no impact on the F1 project:

We have a new leader, as Piastri has gone top with a 1m10.120s, putting him 0.142s clear of Norris. The times are just getting faster and faster now with 27 minutes left.

After the slow start to the session it is now a busy track with all drivers apart from Norris and Colapinto out of their garages.

The McLaren pair is still 1-2, but Hamilton just rose into third with a lap on the mediums that put him 0.304s off the pace.

Tsunoda nearly had a big accident at the exit of T3 on that push lap. Right over the kerbs, almost into the mud/grass, and had to collect a massive snap.

The Red Bull driver is currently 15th in the times, 1.542s off the pace with 32 minutes remaining.

Hamilton still quite scruffy into Turn 3, riding quite a way up the Aramco branding on the outside before he can get it to turn. Verstappen and the two McLarens a good car’s width further to the inside at that point.

Starting to see some fastest laps now that the McLaren drivers are out. Norris has gone top with a 1m10.262s, which is 0.071s faster than championship leader Piastri. Both laps were on the soft tyre.

In other news, the media session last night with Toto Wolff was rather chaotic. Here are his thoughts on the Verstappen to Mercedes saga:

All three slick compounds have now been represented in the session. Alonso is fastest on the softs (1m11.082s), Antonelli on the mediums (1m11.187s) and Bearman on the hards (1m11.967s).

Interestingly, Gasly is the fifth driver to have set a laptime in FP3, but it was on the intermediate tyre meaning he is 11.711s off the pace.

The track was deemed wet at the start of the session, but it was only damp in parts with the clouds having very much cleared.

Some early laptimes 10 minutes into FP3, with Bortoleto fastest on the hards having set a 1m12.966s. Behind him is Colapinto (1m13.374s), Hulkenberg (1m13.485s) and Antonelli (1m13.740s).

Antonelli is the only non-hard runner, having set his lap on the mediums.

Sky has cleared. Clouds were thick, dark and pendulous when we arrived at the track.

Finally some cars. Antonelli and Hulkenberg are the only drivers out on track six minutes into the session.

It's a big day for the Mercedes rookie after that error in FP1...

It is no surprise that teams are in no rush to get their cars out on track, given this session is not very representative of the conditions drivers will face for quali and the race.

Final practice of the Dutch Grand Prix weekend is go!

There was a big thunderstorm overnight at Zandvoort, but the threat of rain has receded for the day ahead with temperature in the high teens, low 20s.

Good morning all and welcome to live updates of final practice for the Dutch Grand Prix!
