That's all from us - stay across Autosport and Motorsport.com for features, news, and reactions as we dissect Friday practice.

Thanks for joining, and we'll see you tomorrow!

FP2 closed for business

And that's all for Friday practice! Norris headlines the session with his 1m09.890s, 0.087s clear of Alonso and 0.089s clear of Piastri.

Russell, Verstappen, Hamilton, Tsunoda, Leclerc, Colapinto, and Hulkenberg complete the top 10.

Five minutes to go

Did anyone have Alonso P2 on their bingo card for a session at any point this weekend? If you did, fair play!

The top eight is within a second of Norris now, which is more than we got in FP1 earlier.

That won't buff out.

Looks like we're getting some longer runs across the used slicks and mediums, although Russell is sporting some second-hand hard tyres for his tours.

Yet, there's still a few flyers to come. Antonelli gets a lap in and goes 11th, before Colapinto goes ninth.

FP2 resumes (again)

16 minutes left on the clock - the Saubers, Bearman, and Lawson get onto the circuit immediately.

Oof, almost a moment between Piastri and Russell in the pitlane - Piastri turned in, realised he needed to be a bit further down, and nearly munched into the side of Russell.

Stewards will take a look at that.

Verstappen up to fifth, 0.6s off the pace - and as soon as he crosses the line, Albon skitters off the road at Turn 1 and knocks his front wing. He's beached, as he's unable to stop his rears spinning up.

Red flag. Again.

Leclerc goes fourth, albeit 0.944s off Norris' time. Hamilton beats him by a tenth.

Piastri is up to third, 0.089s off Norris and 0.002s off Alonso, with Russell fourth.

Alonso gets a lovely tow from a Williams along the straight and posts a 1m09.977s - that's the fastest lap we've had so far this weekend.

Spicy lap, but Norris beats him by 0.087s to go top on his soft-tyre run.

Hulkenberg goes quickest on softs, setting a 1m11.080s - and he was about to be put in the shade by Lewis Hamilton before the Briton spun on the exit of Turn 9.

Big spin, as Hamilton continues to endure a messy day - he goes wide out of T9 and loses traction on the grass.

Indeed, the car has been cleared as Hadjar seeks refuge at the marshal's post. Green flag running thus shall resume.

Norris, Tsunoda, the Williamses and the Alpines are circulating.

"I have no power," Isack Hadjar says, as he parks up at the side of the road. It's a VSC as he's stopped at Turn 8, so they're aiming to get the marshals on course to tuck his VCARB 02 behind the fence.

We've got a few on-track now - Verstappen, Lawson, Tsunoda, Piastri, Colapinto, and Albon are on the circuit.

Without that predicted rain, it appears to be business as normal.

FP2 resumes

After that clean-up operation, we're back! Well, sort of - no immediate takers for the green flag.

The Aston Martin has been removed, and so we shouldn't be too far from a restart time. Stroll's back in the garage.

Verstappen asks if Stroll's hands are okay given the angle, but the Canadian doesn't seem to be in too much pain.

Stroll was unsettled coming out of Turn 2 and locked up into Turn 3, smearing his Aston Martin into the barriers. The car didn't want to bite, it seems.

Stroll hits the wall at Turn 3, lots of damage to his Aston Martin. Red flag.

"I'm okay", he says - but the right-hand side appears to have been wiped out.

Bearman likes the number 11 this year, having finished 11th four times in a row. Fittingly, he sets a 1m11.113s - just 0.002s shy of one-based perfection.

Leclerc gets baulked by Tsunoda into Turn 13, who chooses to race the Ferrari through the final sector. The Monegasque calls him a four letter word, we'll let you chose which one.

Albon, meanwhile, went deep at Turn 11 and skittered across the gravel.

Bortoleto's put some softs on and gets within 0.026s of Norris' lap - Hulkenberg is a further tenth behind. Antonelli's the only other driver on softs, as he missed most of FP1 after getting stranded in the gravel.

Verstappen's on a decent lap on hards, and does a 1m11.572s to go fourth.

Norris is down to a 1m11.294s on mediums, to go 0.837s faster than Alonso - who's also been pipped by Stroll by about 0.15s.

Sainz follows up with a 1m12.564s, but that's ripe for the picking - Alonso posts a 1m12.131s on the mediums, after being baulked by his traffic on his opening attempt at a lap.

"Antonelli is blind," he says, as he catches the Mercedes in Turn 7.

Oh, there's a spit of rain in the pitlane.

Norris opens with a 1m12.615s on the mediums, Sainz is 0.841s behind on hards. Nobody's running at full tilt at the moment.

FP2 at Zandvoort begins

Lawson gets us off to a start, as the two Saubers follow him out of the pits. We have a VSC systems test again too.

Just a couple of minutes until the pitlane opens for business. Indeed, it's looking rather dry out there. Threat of rain completely unfounded...for now, as we might get a little sprinkle later.

It's a full weekend of sport coming up - at least, all the ones worth caring about: F1, football, and the US Open as the final tennis major of the year.

A lot of surprise eliminations of seeded players in the second round of the US Open - Rune, Ruud, Mensik and Khachanov went out in the mens' frame, while Ostapenko went out in a blaze of fury in the womens'. It's all happening.

15 minutes to FP2

"Light precipitation expected" per Dutch weather radars, so perhaps the earlier suggestion of 'heavy rain' might not be in the offing.

It was moderately clement in FP1 (as below), although the clouds did start to darken significantly by the end of the session...

FP1 recap

McLaren's pace looked ominous in the opening practice session: Lando Norris was top with a 1m10.278s, which was 0.292s faster than team-mate Oscar Piastri.

Only Lance Stroll, Fernando Alonso, Alex Albon, and Max Verstappen were within a second of Norris.

Kimi Antonelli put his car in the gravel at Turn 9 - while Verstappen also beached himself at Turn 1 after his end-of-session practice start.
