On lap 23 Stroll pits, exposing damage he sustained in the clash with Tsunoda earlier, as he takes on hard tyres and comes out in 19th place.
Hamilton isn't taking too much out of Verstappen at this point; the gap's down to about 3.6s as of lap 23.
Further back Stroll was also got in front of Alonso for a handful of corners before the Alpine driver struck back to regain 11th. That battle lost Stroll a chink of time and has invited Giovinazzi on to his rear wing.
Leclerc and Sainz are doing the usual Ferrari things, sitting in fifth and sixth relatively undisturbed. Gasly, unlike last weekend, is 2s behind them.
And just like the Hamilton vs Perez battle, Ricciardo makes the move stick second time around at the first corner to take eighth place off Vettel.
Ricciardo briefly gets by Vettel at Turn 1 until the German driver returns to favour at Turn 4. That battle isn't over yet though.
Verstappen's 3.8s up the road in first, evidently not wishing to give Perez DRS after all. Hamilton will need to go and make that up to challenge for the lead.
But Hamilton steams around the outside once again at the start of the 19th lap, and should have enough to ward Perez off into Turn 4. Bottas can now begin to battle Perez.
No investigation needed for the Raikkonen vs Schumacher clash. That'll be one to compare to Tsunoda vs Stroll at the end of this race, given the Japanese driver got a heavy penalty for his clash.
He can! Hamilton dives around the outside of Perez at the start of lap 18 from a fair way back and steams past the Red Bull - but Perez gets him back into Turn 4!
Hamilton has a go at Perez at the start of lap 17, but he's not close enough. But he's tracking the Red Bull through the infield, can he do it this time?
Norris is up to 14th having got ahead of Mazepin. That means he's caught up with the middle chunk of the midfield, with Giovinazzi two seconds ahead in 13th.
DRS is once again activated, so that'll give Hamilton some extra ammo in this battle with Perez. "Get Max to give me DRS," Perez says over the radio.
The race stewards have noted the clash between Raikkonen and Schumacher which triggered the second spill of debris and the Virtual Safety Car period.
Tsunoda has been given a 10-second penalty for causing a collision for his part in the clash with Stroll. That's double disaster for the AlphaTauri driver having lost his front wing in the crash.
Perez put a little bit of space between himself and Hamilton here as the VSC came to an end. Hamilton, however, is still within DRS range.
So now Schumacher is at the back of the field with his new front wing. It has been a messy first 14 laps of this race so far.
The virtual safety car is now over - and we're back to full racing speed.
Hamilton is stalking Perez, waiting for the VSC to be switched off so he can make further ground.
Part of Schumacher's broken front wing comes off on the track as the Haas driver slowly makes his way to the pits for a new front wing.
We've got a VSC for that Schumacher debris, which flew off in the infield section.
Schumacher's dropped to the back of the pack and is dragging his front wing underneath his car. TV replays show he was side-by-side with Raikkonen and the pair made contact at Turn 1.
Hamilton is in DRS range of Perez, but can't open the flap just yet - if he can keep the gap about the same, the Red Bull might be looking shaky here.
Clean restart by the rest of the field, as Latifi loses places to Raikkonen, Norris and Tsunoda.
Bottas is having to defend from Leclerc as the Ferrari seems to be very switched on at this restart.
Full speed ahead! Verstappen really backed the pack up there into Turn 1 - but we're back up and running.
Catching up on the movers and shakers after that early action, a small nod to Mazepin who is up to 14th place ahead of team-mate Schumacher and Latifi - with pitlane-starter Raikkonen P17 ahead of those who pitted early.
Russell pits under the safety car, switching his mediums for hards, to drop to 18th place.
"Tell Valtteri to follow me, we'll get these guys," says Hamilton. He thanked his team-mate earlier for letting him pass into Turn 1.
Replays from Tsunoda's onboard show the Japanese driver, the only one to start on the softs, dived up the inside of Stroll at Turn 1 but got the door slammed in his face which meant the two came together at the apex. A bit messy.
Lots of debris from the Tsunoda/Stroll incident, so the safety car's out and the marshals will do some clearance in Turn 1. Lots of AlphaTauri bits hanging around.
Tsunoda has to pit at the end of lap three to get a new front wing to drop him down to 19th place.
Bottas has allowed Hamilton past at the start of lap 5, which has lifted the #44 car up to third already. Next up? Perez. This is where it gets more difficult.
Tsunoda and Stroll come together at the Senna Esses, with the AlphaTauri driver losing his front wing as a result. That's spilled debris around the outside of Turn 1 which could risk punctures for the rest of the field.
Having pitted at the end of lap one, Norris is back in the action on hard tyres in 20th and last place. With Ricciardo only in 10th place, it is a disaster start for McLaren.
Hamilton's on fire, having cleared Leclerc now and has set a 1m14.254s - the fastest lap so far.
Replay of Norris, trying to go around the outside of Sainz off the line but gets clunked on the left-rear. "I got squished," says Sainz, as the stewards won't investigate the incident.
Hamilton's right in Sainz's slipstream, and kicks off lap 3 by diving past and claiming fifth!
