Bottas gets a good getaway, and dives down the inside into Turn 1, as Sainz overcomes Perez and Gasly to get into third!
Here's the formation lap, we're almost ready to go...
Grand Prix editor Alex Kalinauckas says: Bottas's long run on the softs in FP2 started off quicker than Hamilton but by the end he was going slower - the Merc team knows it'll need to do some tyre management on that rubber over a whole stint.
Tyre news: Mediums for Verstappen, Perez, Leclerc, Norris, Ricciardo, Alonso, Vettel, Giovinazzi, Stroll, Latifi and Hamilton. The rest are on softs.
Good to see slightly different driver profiles in this sprint grid rundown - Giovinazzi opting for Marcus Gronholm's re-enactment of the time a stone went "into the ass of Timo"...
They should do a separate championship for sprint races, maybe they should call it something like the Sprint Cup or something...wait, that sounds familiar. Let's maybe not, then...
Just under 15 minutes until lights out for this Saturday race - a reminder, only the top three get points here. The winner gets pole, yada yada yada, full race tomorrow.
The sprint race at Interlagos will be 24 laps long - it's a short lap, but it might be tough on the tyres. At which point does a sprint become a marathon?
So, this puts Verstappen on pole for this sprint race - with Valtteri Bottas alongside him on the front row.

Then, Lewis Hamilton was excluded from qualifying as his DRS flap opened too much, a breach of F1's technical regulations. Mercedes will not appeal the decision.
First of all, Max Verstappen poking around Lewis Hamilton's rear wing was met with a €50k fine for breaking parc ferme regulations. You can read more on that here.
Hello everyone - and we're back ready for the sprint race here at Interlagos! And crikey, there's been a lot on during the break between sessions...
That's all from us for now - we'll be back later ahead of the Sprint at 1930 GMT!

Five minutes left of FP2 and Alonso is still quickest, leading from Verstappen and Ocon
Gasly says his AlphaTauri is "undriveable" - doesn't sound too good...
Several drivers have had times deleted for exceeding track limits at Turn 4, with Raikkonen and Leclerc the latest victims
Alonso tops the times with a 1m11.238s - 0.8s quicker than Verstappen
Raikkonen is looking pretty speedy too, with his quickest time of 1m13.355s putting him fourth quickest
With the rear-wing of Hamilton's car still impounded by the FIA, Mercedes have been given written permission to fit a replacement part of the same design, as per Article 34.2 of the Sporting Regulations
With 25 minutes to go of FP2, Verstappen leads from Ocon and Perez
Christian Horner says he would be "amazed" if Max Verstappen got a penalty for touching Lewis Hamilton's car. Read what the Red Bull boss had to say here: https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/horner-would-be-amazed-if-verstappen-got-penalty-for-touching-hamiltons-car/6777606/
