Welcome to Live Updates from Practice 1 at the Formula 1 Austrian Grand Prix.
After Red Bull's dominance at the Red Bull Ring last week, can Mercedes close the gap this weekend? We shall see.
We have a 40% chance of rain for this 60 minute session. Track temp 31.4C
Air temp 17.5C.
Remember there is a slight change in Pirelli tyre compounds. The softer C5 compound will be in play this weekend. So the C4, which was the soft last weekend, becomes the medium compound.
Just time before we begin for a quick F1 Fast Fact. Did you know Alain Prost has the most wins of any driver in Austria with three successes (1983, 1985 and 1986.
Fans are back this weekend too. Plenty of orange in the stands in support of Dutchman Max Verstappen.
Pirelli will testing a new tyre in this session. Each team will be required to run on the new rubber during the session.
We will also see Formula 2 championship leader Guanyu Zhou driving Fernando Alonso's Alpine in the session. Callum Ilott is in Antonio Giovinazzi's Alfa Romeo, while Roy Nissany is piloting George Russell's Williams.
Hamilton is on the new prototype rear Pirelli tyres which have no markings.
Pierre Gasly has set the initial pace but his time has been deleted. Verstappen is fastest with a 1m06.640s effort.
Carlos Sainz has a had a little moment running wide at Turn 1.
Yuki Tsunoda has had a trip through the Turn 5 gravel trap in the sister AlphaTauri.
Verstappen back to the top with a 1m06.007s. Hamilton has his time deleted for exceeding track limits at the final corner.
Interestingly the Red Bull backed cars occupy the top four spots. Verstappen heads Gasly, Perez and Tsunoda.
Lance Stroll brings out the yellow flags after a spin onto the grass at Turn 7 in the Aston Martin. He drops a wheel into the gravel tarp on the exit which spins the car around. Stroll is using the prototype rear tyres.
Verstappen drops into the 1m05s bracket. He logs a 1m05.558s. Almost half a second faster than Red Bull team-mate Perez in P2.
Raikkonen reports his frustration caused by a slow Mazepin in the final sector.
Zhou is currently the fastest of the three test drivers in action. Zhou sits P14, Ilott P15 and Nissany P16.
At the front the AlphaTauris of Gasly and Tsunoda dip into the 1m05s. Gasly is just under 0.2s adrift of Verstappen.
Currently the Mercedes duo of Bottas and Hamilton are P18 and P20 respectively with 38 minutes remaining.
Daniel Ricciardo is the top McLaren in P10 with team-mate Lando Norris in P11.
Red Bull boss Christian Horner says the new Pirelli tyre is "slightly different in feeling."
Front wing changes at Red Bull. Horner says they are not upgrades. The circuit is tough on wings apparently.
Charles Leclerc snatches a brake on the front right and runs wide at Turn 1.
Hamilton fires in a lap on the soft tyres to go P3 with a 1m05.892s.
Stroll has a wild spin at the final corner. He's flat-spotted the fronts.
Raikkonen has climbed to P3 as Verstappen improves to pip Tsunoda to the fastest time. Tsunoda briefly held top spot before Verstappen posted a 1m05.143s.
