Race control says the incident between Grosjean and Sainz will be investigated after the race.
"I was in front of him, he understeered into me for sure," says Sainz.
Lap 40/52 - order behind the safety car: 1 Bottas, 2 Vettel, 3 Hamilton, 4 Verstappen, 5 Raikkonen, 6 Ricciardo, 7 Hulkenberg, 8 Ocon, 9 Magnussen, 10 Alonso.
Replays show Sainz got a run on Grosjean around Copse, but Grosjean had a small correction as he turned in and touched Sainz, sending both off.
Sainz and Grosjean are indeed the two drivers involved in an incident at Copse. The safety car is deployed once again.
Raikkonen gets a run on Verstappen - who nearly puts him on the grass - and he's through for... no he isn't! Verstappen repasses him around the outside of Luffield! They battle down to Copse as well, where Verstappen hangs on around the outside to keep fourth place.
Yellow flag out in sector two. Looks like Sainz and Grosjean have gone off.
Bottas boots the throttle on the Hangar Straight, and we are back to racing.
Hamilton is very worried about the tyre age comparison, Mercedes is trying to pump him up, saying "the numbers look good".
Vettel is told lapped cars can now overtake, and he responds: "Tell the safety car to slow down, then." There's something you don't hear very often from F1 drivers.
Sirotkin and Stroll have been released from behind the safety car to join the back of the queue, unlapping themselves in the process.
Ricciardo is told "we were unlucky with the timing of that safety car", and that Red Bull were trying to pre-empt a Raikkonen stop because the Ferrari was struggling. Ricciardo adds: "Some warning would have been good, because the tyres were fine."
Ericsson's car is on the back of a flatbed truck, ready to be returned to Sauber.
Hamilton says "there is no way I can compete with [the drivers on] new tyres". He is told "you are the fastest by miles, so don't give up. It's all there."
Tyre life so far: Bottas 13 laps (M), Vettel 1 lap (S), Hamilton 9 laps (M), Verstappen 1 lap (S), Raikkonen 1 lap (S), Ricciardo 4 laps (S).
Vandoorne now comes in to make a second stop, and rejoins in 15th.
So of the top six, Bottas stayed out, Vettel pitted, Hamilton stayed out, Verstappen and Raikkonen pitted, and Ricciardo had come in just before the safety car so he is on soft tyres that are only three laps old.
Lap 34/52 - race order under the safety car: 1 Bottas, 2 Vettel, 3 Hamilton, 4 Verstappen, 5 Raikkonen, 6 Ricciardo, 7 Hulkenberg, 8 Ocon, 9 Magnussen, 10 Alonso.
Alonso, Sainz, Gasly and Perez have all pitted for softs further down the order. Sainz is the only one of those on a fresh set of the rubber.
Hamilton stays out as well. Mercedes is going to try something different to its rivals.
Bottas has stayed out, while Verstappen and Raikkonen both come in.
Replays show Ericsson - who had DRS open on the start/finish straight - losing the car on turn in at Turn 1 before skating across the gravel.
Ericsson steps out of his car, to plenty of applause from the crowd.
His Sauber is a buried well into the barrier at Turn 1. Yellow flags are out there at the moment.
Vettel's lead over Bottas is now under two seconds. The Mercedes is on the move.
Stroll - already a lap down - finally comes in and switches to soft tyres. He comes out, getting in the way of Hamilton as he does so.
Softs for the Red Bull. Interesting strategy, we're on lap 31/52, and Ricciardo has given everyone a curveball to contend with.
