New best time of the day from Vandoorne, a 1m47.994s. He's still on full wets.
Vandoorne wastes no time heading out again. He's loving these wet conditions.
Just before his off-track excursion, Ericsson had just improved to a 1m53.003s. He remains the only driver besides Vandoorne to have set a time this morning.
Recovery vehicles are already on hand to retrieve Ericsson's stricken Sauber. Vandoorne meanwhile is safely back in the pits.
Here's an early lap count as we reach the end of the first hour:

Vandoorne 14
Ericsson 11
Sirotkin 7
Magnussen 3
Hulkenberg 2
Everyone else 1
Vandoorne delivers our first sub-1m50s lap of the day, a 1m49.497s. Ericsson also improving, but it's only a 1m54.156s that time by. Sirotkin still with no timed lap as he continues constant speed aero runs.
Ericsson improves to a 1m54.931s, just as Vandoorne posts a new best of 1m50.687s.
Vandoorne improves to a 1m52.266s that time round, but a 1m56s effort by Ericsson slashes the gap between the pair to 4.3s.
Vandoorne lowers the bar to a 1m52.305s, going a whopping 14.5s quicker than the field.

Vandoorne can't get enough of this wet-track running. He's back out for more.

While it's all quiet on track, EDD STRAW spent yesterday in the paddock delving into the Red Bull/Renault situation heading into a season where Red Bull wants a title bid but Renault is already talking conservative tactics and grid penalties. Here's his in-depth feature:
Why Renault is creating fresh doubts for Red Bull
Vandoorne is in, and we have an empty track once again. Eight laps complete for him this morning.
Well, that was short-lived. Sirotkin and Magnussen are both back in the pits, so Vandoorne has the circuit to himself. Still just the Belgian and Ericsson with times so far.
Our current pacesetter Vandoorne is also back on track now. Three cars on track together is one more than the most we saw all of yesterday.

Sirotkin is going at a fairly sedate pace along the start/finish straight, but Magnussen looks to be up to speed. Both are on full wets.
Magnussen is also heading out for some more action in the Haas.
Ericsson pits after that little burst, with six laps to his name. Sirotkin takes up the chance to head back out.
2m06.8s next time around for Ericsson, a marginal improvement.
