Lap 14: Rosberg takes medium compound tyres and resumes ahead of Button and Hamilton on the road.
Lap 14: Perez leads and is yet to stop. Massa is currently second after starting on the medium compound tyres.
Lap 14: Schumacher climbs out and walks away. There is a possibility that he had a wheel issue, as we see replays of a problem with the right rear at his pitstop.
Lap 15: Rosberg flies down the long straight in third place for the moment, chased by Button, Hamilton and Webber.
Lap 15: McLaren opted for soft rubber to help leapfrog its rivals at the first stop, but may come under pressure from Webber and Raikkonen on hards.
Lap 15: Perez has been consistently lapping in the high 1m43s, whereas as the leader of the one-stoppers Jenson Button just did a 1m42.988s - 15s back from the Sauber.
Lap 15: Kobayashi runs in ninth after those stops with Grosjean 10th and Vettel gaining and up to 11th. Senna is 13th with Ricciardo yet to stop.
Lap 16: Rosberg clocks the fastest lap at 1m42.551s as he benefits from fresh medium compound rubber on the Mercedes.
Lap 16: Perez holds a 7.6 second lead from Massa but is due in the pits now.
Lap 16: Further replays indicate that the wheel nut did not go onto the right rear, resulting in immediate problems for Schumacher.
Lap 17: Perez makes his late first stop and fits the harder tyres.
Lap 17: That makes Massa the leader for the moment. Rosberg is now right with the Ferrari.
Lap 17: Vergne continues to make solid - if unspectacular - progress in the Toro Rosso. He has just passed Kovalainen to take 18th position.
Lap 18: Rosberg makes the DRS move on Massa and easily takes the lead once more.
Lap 18: Karthikeyan stops for HRT and rejoins in 23rd, some distance behind team-mate de la Rosa.
Lap 18: Button is clocked 4.1 seconds behind the leading Mercedes, with Hamilton a further 1.8 seconds back.
Lap 18: Ricciardo brings his Toro Rosso into the pits from 15th place.
Lap 18: Webber is fifth for Red Bull, with Raikkonen now sixth after losing out in that pit sequence.
Lap 18: De la Rosa pits on the following lap and maintains track position over Karthikeyan.
Lap 18: Comment from a great. 1978 world champion @MarioAndretti observes: "Watching @F1 #ChineseGP. So far looks like big tire strategy. Unfortunate bad luck for Michael S paying price for team mistake."
Lap 19: Massa quickly takes another set of the medium compound and resumes down behind Maldonado in 14th.
Lap 19: Mathematical genius and Countdown delight @carolvorders also sad for Schu: "Such a shame to lose Schumacher... Damn that front right tyre...engineer will be devastated... Green light too early? x"
Lap 19: The stewards confirm that Michael Schumacher will be investigated for an unsafe release from that pitstop, after the race.
Lap 20: So it's now Rosberg by 4.7 seconds from Button and Hamilton.
Lap 20: Pic is the only driver yet to stop. He runs in 17th place at the moment for Marussia.
Lap 20: @clubforce keen for the world to see Paul di Resta's heroics outside of the top ten: "Paul is setting some good times as he runs P13 on lap 18 of 56. Last lap was a 1:43.246. Everyone in the top 13 running similar times."
Lap 20: Vettel has passed Perez on the road and takes ninth position from the Mexican.
Lap 20: McLaren's gamble on the softer tyres appears to be working for the moment, with Webber and Raikkonen behind finding their hard rubber slower
Lap 21: Kobayashi is seventh behind Alonso, with an increasing gap of 4.1s to the Spaniard.
Lap 21: But Rosberg is making the medium compound work up front, holding the 4.7 second margin to Button and showing little sign of tyre trouble.
Lap 21: Grosjean is on the Japanese driver's tail in eighth. Following them comes Vettel ninth, Perez 10th and Senna in 11th.
Lap 21: @MercedesAMGF1 confirms what we all suspected: "Michael's right front wheel was not fitted properly at the stop leading to his retirement"
Lap 21: Maldonado is 12th for Williams but having to fend off a fierce attack from di Resta into Turn 1 at the beginning of this lap.
Lap 22: Button edges closer to Rosberg that time by, with the leader now approaching Karthikeyan to lap the HRT.
Lap 22: Webber is in the pits again for another change of tyres. He's certainly planning a lot of stops today.
Lap 22: Vettel in ninth - now promoted to eight after Webber's stop - is closing in on Grosjean at around three-tenths per lap.
