Lap 27: Vettel leads from Hamilton, Webber, Petrov, Alonso, Massa, Button and Kobayashi.
Lap 26: Race control announces that the incident between Barrichello and Rosberg will be investigated immediately.
Lap 26: Button finally makes the first DRS pass stick as he breezes past Kobayashi into Turn 1 to take seventh.
Lap 25: Hamilton sets the fastest middle sector but remains over seven seconds behind leader Vettel.
Lap 25: Rosberg pulls off to the side of the track and both Mercedes cars are out of the race within 26 laps, as Barrichello comes into the pits.
Lap 25: Perez is now in the pits for the first time after 24 laps on the harder tyre.
Lap 25: Barrichello spun after the contact while Rosberg continued but clearly has damage with fluids coming out of the W02.
Lap 24: Perez is running a long first stint in his Sauber, currently in seventh before making a tyre change.
Lap 24: Barrichello quickly zooms up to the back of Rosberg and instantly has a crack at the German in Turn 3 but fails and clatters into the side of the Mercedes.
Lap 23: We have just 18 cars left in this frantic Australian Grand Prix.
Lap 23: Webber's pace remains poor on the harder Pirelli, with Petrov and Alonso quickly closing in on the Red Bull.
Lap 23: Button is just behind this mid-field scrap in 12th place, as Schumacher pits for a third time and retires from the race.
Lap 22: Barrichello passes Kobayashi for ninth place with a sweet move at Turn 3.
Lap 22: Glock comes back into the pits after a very slow lap and almost simultaneously Heikki Kovalainen pulls off the track.
Lap 22: Vettel's lead is out to seven seconds after a very successful stop several laps before Hamilton's.
Lap 22: Rosberg is leading a train of cars for the second time today. Immediately behind him are Kobayashi, Barrichello and Buemi.
Lap 21: Ferrari's strategists are eying Webber's third place, with the Australian lapping considerably slower on his hard tyres at the moment.
Lap 21: That promotes Massa to sixth, Perez seventh and Rosberg eighth.
Lap 21: Timo Glock is touring slowly on the circuit. He had just been into the pits for s stop.
Lap 21: Button makes his tyre stop and resumes down in 12th.
Lap 20: Alonso will soon be in the zone to use DRS on Petrov, so we'll see if he finds it more effective that Button did earlier.
Lap 20: The problem for Buemi is that di Resta is now between him and Sutil, who is now 14th.
Lap 20: Alonso is closing on Petrov's Renault and is set to rekindle the fight the pair had at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix last year.
Lap 20: Sebastien Buemi has passed Adrian Sutil at Turn 4 but in doing so the Swiss ran off the road. He may yet have to yield position back.
Lap 19: Vettel leads into lap 19 from Hamilton, Webber, Petrov and Alonso.
Lap 19: Alguersuari pits this time round, as does Kovalainen. They both fall back towards the rear of the field.
Lap 18: Button pits for his costly drive-through and still needs to come in for a tyre stop.
Lap 18: Vettel clocks a 1m30.800s on his next lap as he pulls to a sizable 6.5s margin over Hamilton.
Lap 18: Alguersuari has climbed to 11th place with all the stops taking place. He is set to move up still further, as we see Kovalainen making a mess of Turn 1.
Lap 17: The fastest lap from Vettel on fresh rubber has kept the Red Bull man in the lead.
Lap 17: Alonso is just 1.6s down on Sutil but the Force India pits, releasing him up the order.
Lap 17: Petrov, Rosberg and Kobayashi have also been into the pits.
Lap 17: Hamilton resumes and he is still behind Vettel's Red Bull.
Lap 17: Soft tyres go on the McLaren and he is away.
Lap 17: Hamilton is indeed making the right turn into pitlane for some fresh rubber.
Lap 17: Alonso sets the fastest lap of the race with 1m31.904s as the new tyres prove their worth instantly. He is on the move from ninth.
Lap 17: The fresh tyres will soon hand the advantage to those who have pitted so Hamilton is likely to be in this time.
Lap 16: Vettel is infact right behind Button ... or was until he pulled a bold move at Turn 5.
Lap 16: D'Ambrosio also comes in for his first Formula 1 pitstop. He rolls back out into the fight but is well behind Timo Glock.
Lap 16: Hamilton continues on to his 16th lap, with the team now carefully plotting where he will emerge from the stop.
