Lap 16: Barrichello pits from tenth in the Williams as Rosberg rejoins in a lowly 14th position.
Lap 16: Nico Rosberg comes into the pits and it's a disaster! A bungled pit stop costs him a lot of time. Eventually after being pushed back and double-checked he is allowed to leave, well down the order.
Lap 16: It was a rapid stop for Schumacher, resuming behind the Williams pair.
Lap 15: Petrov now pits from 15th place in the Renault. He rejoins still in that position.
Lap 15: Schumacher and Massa dive in to the pits for early stops.
Lap 15: Leader Webber sets the fastest lap with a 1m27.357s.
Lap 14: Gaps continue to stretch out elsewhere in the top 10.
Lap 14: ...And that is exactly what happens. Buemi takes Trulli but runs wide into Turn 1 while avoiding Liuzzi who was coming out of the pits.
Lap 13: Kubica remains right behind Alguersuari but hasn't been able to make a move on the Toro Rosso for ninth.
Lap 13: Buemi has Trulli just two seconds up the road. It could be a case of rinse and repeat on the straight again.
Lap 13: Sebastien Buemi pulls up alongside Timo Glock going down the straight and he takes over 18th place.
Lap 12: Tonio Liuzzi is 14th, but he has dropped to four seconds behind Hulkenberg. Kobayashi and Petrov are close behind the Force India.
Lap 12: Webber is pressing home his advantage - now 3.5 seconds - while Hamilton is still just 1.5 seconds behind Vettel.
Lap 11: Buemi is 19th is now five seconds behind Glock and lapping up to three seconds per lap quicker than the Virgin racer.
Lap 11: Nico Rosberg puts in his quickest lap so far, but still has Barrichello and Hulkenberg right on his tail. This is the battle for 11th.
Lap 10: Webber enjoys a 2.4 second advantage over team-mate Vettel.
Lap 10: Hamilton remains just 3.8 seconds off the lead after a strong first 10 laps in the McLaren.
Lap 10: Sebastien Buemi has passed Chandhok for 19th place. Next on the menu is Timo Glock, who is seven seconds up the road.
Lap 9: Vettel is being told on the radio to use a higher fuel setting to try and break away from Hamilton and close down leader Webber.
Lap 9: Sebastien Buemi has passed Lucas di Grassi for 20th position as he continues his charge back through the field.
Lap 8: Alonso continues to hold fourth, with Button fifth now right behind the Ferrari.
Lap 8: Rosberg is clearly struggling in this opening phase of the race. He is only 11th and holding up Barrichello and Hulkenberg behind him.
Lap 7: Kubica is trying to recover from his troubled start and is right on the case of Alguersuari's Toro Rosso.
Lap 7: Rob Smedley is encouraging Felipe Massa to use the advantage of Ferrari's F-duct on Schumacher's Mercedes in the battle for sixth.
Lap 7: Glock is 18th ahead of Chandhok in 19th, Di Grassi 20th, the recovering Buemi in 21st and De la Rosa in 22nd.
Lap 6: Vitaly Petrov has got past Trulli's Lotus quickly as we suspected in the pre-race words. He runs 16th now with the Italian in 17th.
Lap 6: Hamilton is showing strong race pace in his McLaren and is still just under a second behind Vettel in third.
Lap 6: Outside the top ten - Nico Rosberg has had a poor opening stint and runs in 11th, with Barrichello up to 12th, ahead of team-mate Hulkenberg in 13th. Liuzzi is 14th with Kobayashi 15th.
Lap 5: Webber sets the fastest lap at 1m27.990s as he streteches the lead to 1.3s over team-mate Vettel.
Lap 5: Replays show Bruno Senna running wide into the gravel at Turn 3 on the opening lap - the reason for his retirement.
Lap 4: Replays show Kubica was in a scrap with Massa through the first corners and was forced out wide by the Ferrari.
Lap 4: Kamui Kobayashi also made a poor start in the other Sauber. He passed Jarno Trulli for 15th on the start-finish straight.
Lap 4: Massa has done well off the start to make it up to seventh, followed by Sutil and Alguersuari while it hasn't been a good opening spell for Kubica - falling to 10th.
Lap 3: Heikki Kovalainen failed to get away from the pitlane and is shown as retired. It is possible that Lotus will send him out in a few minutes if the problem can be fixed.
Lap 3: Buemi also rejoins after having the front wing changed on his Toro Rosso.
Lap 3: Webber has made a slight break from his team-mate, while Hamilton is hanging with Vettel in these early stages.
Lap 2: De la Rosa is into the pits with a left rear puncture. He gets new wheels and is back underway.
Lap 2: There was plenty of maneuvering between the leading runners on the blast to Turn 1 but ultimately no change in grid order.
