Date change for Rally of Scotland

The penultimate round of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge will now take place one week earlier than previously scheduled, it was confirmed today

The RACMSA Rally of Scotland was due to take place from 14-16 October but will now move one week forward to 7-9 October after a further update to the calendar by series officials.

The move follows repeated requests from parties in Scotland associated with the running of the event, who cited an insufficient number of volunteer personnel being available for the 14-16 October weekend as a major contributory factor.

The IRC's media partner Eurosport was confident, however, that the change would not affect race coverage.

"We're always keen to find solutions to help local organisers and this change of date works for all," said managing director of Eurosport Events Geraldine Filiol.

"The fact that there will be little affect to the live broadcast of the event on Eurosport in what is a very busy sporting weekend for live television is obviously great news and will help to ensure that RACMSA Rally of Scotland will once again be one of the highlights of the IRC season.

"There's also even more time for the teams to get their cars and equipment to Cyprus for the final event of the IRC season."
