Wilks secures 2011 Peugeot deal
Guy Wilks has signed a deal to drive Peugeot's 207 Super 2000 on 11 rounds of next year's Intercontinental Rally Challenge
The deal is expected to be announced by Peugeot tomorrow morning and will end weeks of speculation concerning the identity of the driver who would take the seat vacated by outgoing IRC champion Kris Meeke.
Peugeot UK declined to comment on any decision and AUTOSPORT was unable to contact Guy Wilks, but sources are adamant the deal has been agreed for the Englishman, starting with next year's Monte Carlo Rally.
Meeke himself tipped Wilks for the job, stating that he felt an experienced driver would be the best bet for Peugeot. He said: "Obviously, we have achieved some results and to keep the programme going forward, they're going to need a driver like Guy to get in there with the potential to keep on winning."
Double British Rally champion Wilks won last year's Rally of Scotland and looked odds-on to repeat that result earlier this month, before a transmission failure forced him into retirement from the lead of the Perth-based event.
