Neuville gets Kronos IRC programme

Kronos Racing will run young Belgian driver Thierry Neuville in six rounds of this year's Intercontinental Rally Challenge with backing from Peugeot Belgium-Luxembourgh

The 21-year-old's programme will commence with the next IRC round in the Canary Islands later this month, and also includes Sardinia, Ypres, Zlin, Sanremo and Scotland.

His co-driver will be Nicolas Klinger, who partnered Nicolas Vouilloz during the latter's IRC title-winning season two years ago.

Neuville will initially use the car driven by Kronos number one Kris Meeke in Brazil and Argentina, with Meeke switching back to the 207 he drove in Monte Carlo.

Team boss Marc van Dalen said the focus would be on helping Neuville build experience at first.

"It's very good news and I have no doubt that Thierry is a very talented young driver," he said.

"He still has a lot to learn but he can do this by getting to the end of each rally.

"It is very important that he will have Nicolas with him. He is very experienced but he also knows the team and this will help Thierry to concentrate on his driving."
