Meeke undecided on future

Meeke is closing nearing a decision on whether he will remain at Peugeot or move away from the team with which he won this year's IRC, but he says the continued debate through this season has not offered manufacturers the clarity they would have wanted.

Meeke said: "Whichever way you have turned this season, people have had their own agendas about what is the right way for the championship to go.

"That's understandable. I have my own agenda and my own thoughts, but we really needed early and clear decisions on what was happening.

"There's still debate going on now, there has been a lack of direction on this. I'm not saying that my decision is important, but it's important to me to get it right for next year and, possibly more importantly, the year after."

Meeke is expected to return to the IRC to defend his crown next season, but he is aiming to secure a full-time WRC seat in 2011.

"It's impossible to talk about a two-year deal with the current indecision," he added. "Right now we're looking at a one-year deal with an option for the following season. It's not easy and there's so much riding on this decision."

Whichever team he drives for next season, Meeke admitted that repeating his dominant performance of this year would be tough.

"If - and that's a very, very big if - we did win in Scotland, that would mean we'd had five wins and two seconds," he said. "That's 66 points from a possible 70. It's going to be really difficult to try and emulate that. I guess the only way to go forward is to try and do the perfect 70!"
