Neal looking for Brands repeat

Having slipped out of the spotlight slightly in the last two BTCC meetings, Independent superstar Matt Neal is aiming for another giant killing performance at Brands Hatch

Neal took a pole and a win in the first meeting at Donington, and still lies 4th in the championship with his Team Dynamics Nissan Primera. He ran comfortably in the top three and led the factory Nissans at Brands last year and is looking for a repeat performance.

'We are really looking forward to Brands, having qualified third there last year,' said Neal, 'we should have a full 1999 spec aero kit fitted this weekend, so we have a realistic chance of making another podium finish.'

Relations between factory Nissan team Ray Mallock Ltd and Neal's family-run Dynamics outfit are close, but the independent team risk upsetting the hierarchy if Neal wins again this weekend. Factory driver Laurent Aiello is aiming for the £250,000 bonus on offer to any driver who can win four races in a row, and after his double victory at Thruxton a fortnight ago, the Frenchman is looking to claim the cash at Brands. It was joint points leader James Thompson who set the pace at Brands Hatch in the last test session however.
