AUTOSPORT award finalists revealed

The selected drivers are Formula Renault Eurocup race winner Luciano Bacheta, Formula Renault UK championship leaders Tom Blomqvist and Lewis Williamson, Formula BMW Europe runner-up Jack Harvey, British Formula Ford runner-up Scott Malvern, and Formula Palmer Audi contender Nigel Moore.

The six will go to Silverstone in November to be assessed in Formula 2 and Mercedes DTM machinery by an expert judging panel that includes DTM star Jamie Green, GP2 frontrunner Oliver Turvey, McLaren's head of vehicle engineering Mark Williams, veteran commentator Ian Titchmarsh and AUTOSPORT'S Marcus Pye and Kevin Turner.

The winner, who will be revealed at the AUTOSPORT Awards in London on Sunday December 5, will be awarded £50,000, a McLaren F1 test drive, full BRDC membership, Puma racewear for a year, and a TW Steel watch.

Former winners of the award include current F1 world champion Jenson Button, 13- time grand prix winner David Coulthard, Peugeot LMP racer Anthony Davidson, Green, IndyCar star Dario Franchitti, and Turvey.

Luciano Bacheta

Age: 20

2010: Currently third in Formula Renault Eurocup with Interwetten Racing

Career: A champion in T-Cars, Bacheta moved into single-seaters in the Formula Palmer Audi Championship and soon became a race winner.

He then stepped up to the ultra-competitive Formula Renault Eurocup in 2008 and struggled initially, but has come good this year with a victory and five other podiums.

Tom Blomqvist

Age: 16

2010: Currently leading Formula Renault UK with Fortec Motorsport

Career: British-born son of World Rally legend Stig, Blomqvist only started his car racing career last season in the Swedish and North European Zone Formula Renault championships.

Joined Fortec in last year's Formula Renault UK Winter Cup and continued with the squad in the main series this season. Currently leads the standings after 10 top-threes, including three wins.

Jack Harvey

Age: 17

2010: Formula BMW Europe runner-up with Fortec Motorsport

Career: A successful karter, Harvey moved into car racing with Fortec in last year's Formula BMW Europe championship and was a race winner.

The Racing Steps Foundation-backed driver stayed on this season and narrowly missed out on the title after scoring seven wins and eight poles from 16 rounds.

Scott Malvern

Age: 21

2010: British Formula Ford runner-up with Cliff Dempsey Racing-run Ray

Career: After spending 2008 as a mechanic Malvern started his single-seater career in club-level Formula Ford 1600.

He won the national title and stepped up to the main British Formula Ford championship this year. The top runner in a Ray chassis, Malvern scored two wins and 12 other podiums to secure second in the title race.

Nigel Moore

Age: 18

2010: Currently second in Formula Palmer Audi

Career: Moore's early career was spent climbing the Ginetta GT ranks. He was Ginetta Junior champion in 2007 before dominating the G50 Cup the following season.

He became the youngest Briton to start the Le Mans 24 Hours in 2009 but switched to single- seaters this year in Formula Palmer Audi. Has so far scored eight podiums, including two wins.

Lewis Williamson

Age: 20

2010: Currently second in Formula Renault UK

Career: Williamson started a few low-key single-seater races in 2008 before contesting the 2009 Formula Renault UK championship with CRS Racing.

Switched to Manor Competition this year and is currently fighting Tom Blomqvist for the title after taking five victories and three other podium finishes with two races still to go.
