Virtuosi UK wants Tamas Pal Kiss for 2014 Auto GP title bid
Virtuosi UK is working on a deal with Hungarian Tamas Pal Kiss for the 2014 Auto GP season, after a successful post-season test at Jerez last month
On his first experience running for the Norfolk team, GP3 race-winner Kiss topped all three sessions he completed during the two-day test.
"I was really surprised with the performance we had," said Kiss. "I know they are very professional, and I have been quite confident in the car since the end of this season.
"But honestly, from the first laps I could tell and feel we have everything that is needed to be on the top."
Virtuosi team manager Andy Roche reckoned Kiss's testing performance marked him out as an early favourite for the 2014 Auto GP title.
"This is a great opportunity for the team and Tamas; I am really hopeful that we can sort a deal out for 2014 and I'm looking forward to working with him," said Roche.
"He showed great pace and maturity in the Jerez test and I am sure in 2014 he can challenge for the championship."
Kiss took particular satisfaction in being faster than 2013 title contenders Kimiya Sato and Sergio Campana on the final day of testing.
"[All the] frontrunners were there on the morning of day two, when the track was at its quickest," said Kiss.
"We could beat them, and I remember how hard it was to catch them during this past season."
Unable to secure the funding for a drive at the start of 2013, Kiss made his Auto GP debut with MLR71 at his home round in Hungary in May and took two fifth places.
He went on to complete the season with the Zele and Ibiza teams, scoring a podium at Silverstone with the former and taking points every time out on the way to fifth in the final standings.
