Lap 4: Hamilton is ahead of Perez now in sixth and needs to progress to take advantage of Alonso's costly elimination.

Lap 4: Vettel leads by 1.9 seconds at the end of the first full racing lap with Button now harrying Kobayashi, tailed by Massa and Raikkonen.
Lap 5: Unbelievable position changes from this. Maldonado is ninth with Ricciardo up to 10th and Kovalainen an amazing 11th.

Lap 7: Perez goes for wild dive down the inside of Hamilton's McLaren and amazingly makes it stick.
Lap 7: Schumacher has also passed Glock and takes over 14th position.
Lap 7: Great move from Perez there at the hairpin and Hamilton has no response.
Lap 7: Romain Grosjean has been given a 10 second stop-go penalty for causing a collision.
Lap 8: He is down in 18th place, trying to recover, but this will dent his progress further after that lap one incident.
Lap 8: Vettel sets the fastest lap as he pulls 4.1 seconds clear up front.
Lap 8: Grosjean answers the call and comes into the pits.
Lap 9: Grosjean gets away after what seems like an eternity. He drops to the rear of the field.
Lap 9: Webber has passed Pic and moves up to 20th position, after Grosjean's penalty.
Lap 9: Button is now 1.5 seconds behind Kobayashi's Sauber, with both drivers likely to run quite long in this first stint.
Lap 9: Kovalainen is doing a fabulous job to hold onto 11th. He has Vergne and di Resta on his tail.
Lap 9: Hamilton has now fallen 2.4 seconds behind Perez as he continues to struggle for pace after getting his setup wrong on Saturday.
Lap 10: Maldonado in ninth is dropping away from Hulkenberg's Force India. Ricciardo is close to him in 10th, then Kovalainen is 5.6s back.

Lap 10: Glock is 15th with Senna now up to 16th, having passed de la Rosa. Petrov is 18th and Webber is up to 19th spot.
Lap 11: Vettel flashes past untroubled and over 6.2 seconds ahead and must have time to hope his alternator holds together on a warm day in Japan.
Lap 12: Webber passed Karthikeyan on the last lap to move into 19th, with Pic 21st and Grosjean 16.3s back after his penalty, in 22nd place.
Lap 12: Perez is setting a strong pace in his Sauber and is now right with Raikkonen. The Mexican could be planning a fairly long first stint.
Lap 12: "Target plus two," Perez is told, meaning Sauber think he can run longer than expected on this first set of soft tyres.
Lap 13: Maldonado continues to drop away from Hulkenberg. He is maintaining ninth but now 3.2s back from the Force India. Ricciardo is 10th.
Lap 13: Webber has passed Petrov into Spoon curve and is up to 18th position.

Lap 14: Hamilton is told he is doing a "great job" with tyres as the team look to go five laps longer than planned.
