Weekend review and results round-up
The race itself may have been forgettable - as Sebastian Vettel swept to one of his most straightforward wins of the year - but Formula 1's arrival in India was a tremendous success overall, with an ample and enthusiastic crowd, and the drivers united in appreciative praise for the Buddh circuit
Inevitably there was also a sadness to the weekend. F1 may sometimes be accused of being insular, but there was no sign of that as drivers paid emotional tribute to Dan Wheldon and Marco Simoncelli, and reflected on the implications of this tragic fortnight for motorsport.
The remaining pieces of the 2012 jigsaw moved closer to their positions, with Renault announcing that Romain Grosjean would get some Friday practice auditions, and Force India promising an imminent driver announcement amid rumours that Adrian Sutil will make way for Nico Hulkenberg.
The big issue of the race itself was yet another collision between Lewis Hamilton and Felipe Massa. This time it was the Brazilian who was penalised - to his immense frustration.
