Weekend review and results round-up
Any thoughts that the works Honda team might take a clean sweep of 2011 MotoGP victories were dashed in just the second round at a wet Jerez, where Jorge Lorenzo won for Yamaha after Valentino Rossi crashed into Casey Stoner - unsurprisingly prompting plenty of controversy and some very strong words from the Honda man
Similar excitement but less fireworks in NASCAR, where the long wait for another Dale Earnhardt Jr victory looked it was set to come to an end at Martinsville, until Kevin Harvick pounced late-on for a second successive race win.
The 2011 British Touring Car Championship got underway at Brands Hatch and saw champion Jason Plato set a new record with his 61st and 62nd series wins, before Matt Neal got his title bid underway with a race three victory.
All eyes were on the new Aston Martin LMP1 car as the Le Mans Series kicked off at Paul Ricard, but with the AMR-One using the event as a test, it was an old name returning that took the victory, as Pescarolo dominated in its comeback race.
