Vasiliauskas wins Valencia finale

Kazim Vasiliauskas waited until the final race of the 2010 Formula 2 season to score his only victory of the year

He made a flying start from pole position and kept second-placed Jack Clarke at arm's length throughout the 21 laps to finish his season on a high.

Clarke and Vasiliauskas broke away from the pack early on and only Dean Stoneman was able to cross the divide after relieving Ivan Samarin of third place on lap six.

Stoneman closed to within a second of Clarke at one point, but the Briton was able to repel his charge and take a comfortable second.

Samarin then had to hold off fellow Russian Sergei Afanasiev to keep that fourth place, which he did despite Afanasiev edging ahead and the pair banging wheels at Turn 2. Fifth was still enough for Afanasiev to clinch third place in the championship.

Mihai Marinescu completed the top six behind, from Armaan Ebrahim, Kelvin Snoeks and Benjamin Bailly. Debutant Ramon Pineiro made it into the top 10 after finding a way past Philipp Eng mid-way through. Series runner-up Jolyon Palmer concluded his season with a disappointing 13th, from 14th on the grid.
