Kristensen to return to RoC
Tom Kristensen is the latest name to be added to the list of all-time greats set to compete in this year's Race of Champions in Dusseldorf
The eight-time Le Mans winner will join a star-studded list including Michael Schumacher, Sebastien Loeb, Alain Prost and Sebastian Vettel at the 23rd RoC event, to be held on November 27-28.
"I really enjoy competing in the Race of Champions," said Kristensen. "I have regularly taken part since it was held in the Canary Islands and seen first-hand how it has developed into a major global sports event."
The 42-year-old Dane, fresh off the podium at this year's Le Mans, hopes to add victory at the RoC to his impressive CV and go one better than 2005, when he won the Nations Cup representing Scandinavia with Mattias Ekstrom.
"My Audi colleagues and I were very happy on the podium at Le Mans - and it would be fantastic to celebrate with a good result in the Race of Champions at the very end of the season," he added.
Kristensen has contested every RoC since 2001 and IMP president Fredrick Johnsson is excited to have Kristensen back in the fray for 2010.
"We're thrilled that Tom will return to the Race of Champions in 2010," he said. "He is a true champion who has dominated his field of motorsport - and he always entertains the crowds when he's let loose inside a stadium."
