Glew also loses Triple 8 seat
Phil Glew has announced that he has also been sidelined as a result of the sponsorship issues that forced British Touring Car Championship leader Fabrizio Giovanardi out of the Triple 8 Vauxhall line-up prior to this weekend's Rockingham races
The team revealed last week that Giovanardi would have to step down in favour of James Nash, and the latter looks set to be Triple 8's sole driver at Rockingham with Glew also missing the event.
"I'm devastated to be out of the car at this early stage in the season," said the BTCC rookie.
"My main efforts are now focused on putting together a concrete package which suits [personal sponsor] WD-40, myself, and our other sponsors to enable us to begin racing again and continue our fantastic relationship."
Major sponsor UNIQ decided to halt its deal with Triple 8 after Thruxton, despite Giovanardi winning two of the three races.
"We severely underestimated the impact that our brand exposure would have on the demand for certain products and services in the UK market, so to maintain sponsorship with Triple 8 would actually present us with a series of business problems," a UNIQ spokesman told this week's AUTOSPORT magazine.
Glew had started his BTCC career with a sixth place in the opening round two weeks ago.
