Greg Mansell joins Comtec for Spain
Comtec Racing has signed Greg Mansell to contest the Formula Renault 3.5 finale at Motorland Aragon in Spain this weekend
Mansell's promising debut season in the category was disrupted when he parted ways with Ultimate Motorsport shortly after the Portimao meeting in August.
The youngest son of 1992 world champion Nigel Mansell will fill the seat vacated by Australian John Martin, who had been competing with the Norfolk team on a race-by-race basis, and is set to partner fellow Briton Jon Lancaster.
Comtec team manager John Barnett told AUTOSPORT: "The reason we have gone for Greg is that we think he should be able to score well, Greg has been racing in Atlantic and LMP1 since leaving Ultimate, as well as being a good team-mate for Jon Lancaster. Really, I am just pleased to have two drivers in the car, and it makes a good change to have two British drivers."
Ultimate Motorsport has confirmed that it will not be competing at Motorland this weekend.
Racing director Johnny Ostrowski commented: "It won't be happening, it proved too difficult to put something together. The will is definitely there to be racing again next year, but we'll have to see what happens on the budget over the winter."
