Leimer wraps up IFM title with victory
Fabio Leimer clinched the International Formula Master title with three races to spare by scoring his sixth victory of the year at Oschersleben this afternoon
The 20-year-old Swiss driver converted another pole position into another comfortable victory, striding away from title rival Sergei Afanasiev in the early stages of the race.
Leimer had to survive a safety car restart following a spin by Patrick Reiterer, but he never looked threatened and won with a couple of seconds in hand.
Afanasiev was alone in second, while Erik Janis earned his third podium of the season by passing Alexander Rossi and Pal Varhaug at the start.
Josef Kral came into the race mathematically able to overhaul Leimer, but remained in sixth throughout. Simon Trummer and Vladimir Arabadzhiev completed the top 10.
