Busch to race Grand Am for Ganassi

Kyle Busch is set to make his Grand Am Rolex Sports Car Series debut next month at the wheel of a Chip Ganassi Racing Daytona Prototype

Busch will drive the No. 02 Lexus Riley in the Brumos Porsche 250 at Daytona International Speedway on July 4, sharing driving duties with Sprint Cup series colleague Scott Speed, who will also make his debut in the series.

Despite racing for the most part on ovals, Busch has shown his skill on road courses racing as well. Last year he won both at Infineon Raceway and Watkins Glen in the NASCAR Sprint Cup series after taking victory earlier in the year at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in Mexico in a Nationwide Series event.

"I am really looking forward to seeing Kyle and Scott in one of our Grand Am cars," Chip Ganassi said. "Kyle is one of the best race car drivers in the world and Scott is a young talent with a lot of road course experience.

"Also, I think having the opportunity for them to work with a road course veteran like Scott Pruett should make for a great experience for them. It will be exciting to see what they can do."

Ganassi's team won last year's Brumos Porsche 250 at Daytona and they currently lead both the driver and team standing of the Grand Am Rolex with veteran Scott Pruett and Mexican Memo Rojas.

In January the team finished runner up in the Rolex 24 at Daytona with Juan Pablo Montoya joining the team for the third consecutive year, having won the race in 2007 and 2008.

Both Busch and Speed are set to have a busy 4th of July, as following their Grand Am debut they will compete at the same venue within a few hours in the Sprint Cup series' Coke Zero 400.
