Asmer heads Friday Macau practice

Provisional pole position holder Marko Asmer led the way during Friday morning's final free practice session for the Macau Grand Prix

The Hitech Racing driver spent the session evaluating a new set up direction to boost straight-line speed and was happy with the improvements, after moving to the top of the timesheets with just one minute of practice remaining.

"Yeah, that was okay," said Asmer. "We changed something from yesterday and it looked like it worked. So things were not too bad, and we will just have to see how much the track will improve this afternoon for qualifying. I think the times are going to be very fast."

Japan's Kodai Tsukakoshi was second fastest, while TOM'S driver Oliver Jarvis showed improved form to set the third best time - having been consistently near the top of the times for much of the session.

Although there were no red flags during the session, there were a number of incidents as several drivers hit trouble.

Frank Mailleux broke his rear wing after spinning backwards into the barriers at Lisboa, while Atte Mustonen recovered from a spin at R-Bend only to crash out later in the session at Lisboa after contact with another car.

James Jakes also ended his session in the wall. He had sat out much of the early part of practice thanks to a mechanical problem, but after heading out with 11 minutes remaining he nosed into the barriers at Moorish Hill right at the end.
