Valerio to replace Kimball at finale
Alberto Valerio will fill-in for Charlie Kimball at the World Series by Renault finale at Barcelona this weekend
Kimball had to pull out of the previous round at Estoril last weekend after he was diagnosed with diabetes, and the American has not been passed fit to return to the car this weekend.
Valerio raced for Victory Engineering's sister team Carlin Motorsport in British F3 this year, where he finished eighth in the standings.
He has some experience of the high-powered Dallara and the circuit though, as he competed in the same event last year.
The former South American F3 champion will miss Friday's practice sessions due to other commitments though, which means that his first time on track at the weekend will be during Saturday morning's qualifying session.
"Missing the practice sessions on Friday is not ideal, but I have experience of the World Series car around this circuit," he said.
"I'm confident that I will be able to go out and do a good job and get the team some points."
Team manager David Lowe added: "It will be difficult for Alberto having to miss Friday's practice sessions, but his experience in the car around Barcelona will undoubtedly help.
"Obviously its not under the happiest of circumstances that he joins the team, but just a week after his diagnosis, it is a little too early for Charlie to jump back in the car."
