Q & A with Kimi Raikkonen

As the start of the season edges closer, the teams continue to work against the clock to get their cars ready for the Australian Grand Prix

Although it's still too early to judge who's hot and who's not, some teams are looking stronger than others in testing, and McLaren currently look like the squad to beat judging by their winter pace.

Kimi Raikkonen, meanwhile, continues with his low-key acclimatisation to the Ferrari team, seemingly indifferent to his former team's progress and, as usual, not saying much about the Italian outfit's own form.

Autosport.com joined the questioning of Raikkonen at Jerez this week to try and find out exactly what he feels at the moment.

Q. How do you think it will go in Melbourne?

Kimi Raikkonen: I don't know, it is getting there but we have to wait and see in Bahrain, then we can see more.

Q. Ferrari has not looked quickest in winter testing, why is that?

KR: It's difficult to say, we will see in the race.

Q. McLaren, on the other hand, are looking very quick...

KR: I don't know why, we have our own things to do, we concentrate on those. Like I said it is too early to say, we will wait and see.

Q. Are you happy at Ferrari?

KR: I am very happy, everything is good, just wait and see until we race.

Q. How is the car working in Jerez?

KR: We had some difficulty today but apart from that it has been pretty okay.

Q. Do you think you are adapting well to the car?

KR: There is still work to do, we have been unlucky in the start of the year with the weather, when it gets better we can get some more laps.

Q. How is your relationship with Felipe Massa?

KR: It is good, he is a nice guy so everything is good inside the team. We have been so many days together so...

Q. Are you not worried about the reliability , you have not been so lucky...

KR: No, I am not worried. There are many things coming, when that comes it is the real thing.

Q. Were you surprised you had an engine problem?

KR: No, sometimes it can happen and we know what was the problem, not a major issue.

Q. How are you adapting to the new Bridgestones?

KR: It is getting better all the time but it takes time to get used to it. We still have some work to do, every day it is getting easier.

Q. Do the tyres suit your driving style?

KR: No, not really. I think we need to work on the car to make it work for me.

Q. Valencia and Jerez are quite different circuits, how did the car adapt?

KR: It is okay. I think here the car is better here than it was in Valencia. It is a special place, Valencia, with low speed corners so we have more time to work on the car, so...

Q. What is the main focus here?

KR: Everything really, we have to learn the tyres and do some distance.

Q. Are you satisfied?

KR: There are things we are not happy with and we are improving things, everything is going well.

Q. Everything is according to your expectations?

KR: Yes, no problem.

Q. McLaren look strongest, do you agree?

KR: It's difficult to say from the test times. We will need to wait and see in the first race. Then we can say who is really quick. I think it will be quite close.

Q. Do you keep an eye on them?

KR: I am not any closer to other teams.

Q. Are there any differences here compared to McLaren?

KR: Yes, but there is no point to talk about that. It is not going to change anything is it? I am happy where I am.

Q. Are you happier?

KR: I am happy.
