Davidson on top in practice 2 - Malaysia
Honda's Anthony Davidson knocked fellow test driver Alex Wurz off the top of the timesheets in Friday's second practice for Sunday's Malaysian Grand Prix
The Briton spun off early in the session but put in a blistering late lap to beat the Austrian, quickest in the first session for Williams, with a lap of 1:35.041 as the temperature rose at the Sepang circuit.
World champion Fernando Alonso, who won the Formula One season-opener in Bahrain last weekend, was quickest among the race drivers in 1:35.806 after 14 laps in the Renault.
He was closely followed by Ferrari's Felipe Massa.
McLaren's Kimi Raikkonen was next fastest ahead of Alonso's teammate Giancarlo Fisichella with Ferrari's seven times champion Michael Schumacher and Honda's Jenson Button seventh and eighth respectively.
Juan Pablo Montoya, the quickest of the race drivers in the first session, was clearly in a hurry to get his season going after a fifth place finish in the season-opener last week.
Halfway through the hour, his McLaren stopped in the pitlane and the Colombian was so eager to get it to the garage he dragged it back himself.
He later spun off and was able to post only the 14th quickest time.
Many top drivers preferred to sit out most if not all of the first session to preserve their engines, which will be running for a second race on Sunday.
