No WEC performance penalties for Ford after Le Mans 24 Hours win

Ford has not been hit with any performance penalties ahead of the Nurburgring World Endurance Championship round following its Le Mans 24 Hours class victory

The two factory Ganassi Ford GTs will race at the Nurburgring on July 24 at the same minimum weight and same turbo boost levels with which the marque finished one-three-four in GTE Pro at Le Mans.

Ferrari, the only manufacturer to challenge Ford at Le Mans, also has an unchanged Balance of Performance for the 488 GTE that won the class at the opening two WEC rounds.

The Ford and Ferrari will race at 1248 and 1268kg respectively, the higher minimum weights imposed on the cars after they had dominated qualifying for the 24 Hours.

Those figures compare with the 1263 and 1243kg minimums at which Ford and the Ferrari ran at the pre-Le Mans WEC round at Spa in May.

Ferrari dominated at Spa with its pair of factory AF Corse-run 488s, while Ford proved uncompetitive over the course of the six-hour race.

Porsche's 911 RSR has been given a 15kg weight break, but has also been pegged back on engine power with an air-restrictor 0.2mm smaller in diameter.

The Aston Martin Vantage GTE retains the lower 1183kg minimum given to it ahead of race week at Le Mans and returns to the larger diameter restrictor at which it ran at Spa.

The fuel capacities of all the car return to Spa levels.
