Ford and Ferrari pegged back in GTE for Le Mans 24 Hours race
The performance of the Ford and Ferrari GTE Pro contenders has been pegged back ahead of this weekend's Le Mans 24 Hours
The Balance of Performance has been adjusted by the FIA and Le Mans organiser the ACO after the Ford GT and Ferrari 488 GTE dominated qualifying for the double-points World Endurance Championship round.
The four Fords run by the two arms of the Ganassi operation have had their minimum weight raised by 10kg, which follows a 25kg reduction in the lead-up to the event.
Engine power has also been cut for the Ford with a revised table of turbo boost ratios.
The three Ferraris - two run by the factory AF Corse team and one by Risi Competizione - have had 15kg added to their minimum weight.
The Aston Martins and Chevrolet Corvettes left trailing in the wake of the class pacesetters have been given performance breaks.
The Aston Martin Vantage GTE and Chevrolet Corvette C7.R have each been allowed an engine air-restrictor 0.2mm larger in diameter.
The BoP of the Porsche 911 RSR is unchanged, apart from an increase in fuel tank size from 95 to 98 litres.
The Ferrari and Chevrolet have also received an additional two litres of fuel in a move designed to equalise the stint length of the GTE Pro cars at 14 laps.
The restrictors in the refuelling systems have yet to be defined.
Dirk Muller set pole position for the US Ganassi team with a 3m51.185s lap.
The fastest Ferrari, the lead AF car driven by Gianmaria Bruni, was four tenths behind, while best of the rest Frederic Makowiecki in the quickest Porsche was 3.8s off the pace.
