Croft BTCC: Daniel Lloyd leads practice in Eurotech Honda

Eurotech Racing's Daniel Lloyd emerged as the pacesetter after the two free practice sessions for Sunday's fifth meeting of the British Touring Car Championship season at Croft

At the circuit where he made his debut in the series back in 2010, Lloyd left it late in second practice to put his Honda Civic Type-R to the top of the times with a best lap of 1m24.511s - almost a second quicker than he had managed in the opening 40-minute session earlier in the day.

"We put some new tyres on and it was a good run," he said.

"We spent most of the session working on race set-up but I knew the car would be quick and there is still more to come for qualifying. It's a good start."

Lloyds's lap in the closing minutes of the session prevented Speedworks Motorsport's Tom Ingram from heading practice for the third successive meeting, with his Toyota having spent a large part of the session comfortably clear at the front.

Ingram would ultimately end up just 0.009s adrift, with the Motorbase Performance Ford Focus of Andrew Jordan only 0.004s further back in third after the current Independents' points leader was able to vault up the times on his final flying lap.

Despite carrying maximum ballast as championship leader, Sam Tordoff was quickest of the rear-wheel drive cars in his WSR BMW 125i M Sport, albeit three-tenths of a second off the pace in fourth place, with the Team BMR Subaru Levorgs maintaining the improved pace shown at Oulton Park by filling out the next three spots.

In something of a surprise, it was team boss Warren Scott who was quickest of the Subarus thanks to his final timed lap, which placed him just ahead of team-mates Jason Plato and Colin Turkington.

Rob Austin, Hunter Abbott and Jack Goff rounded out the top 10.

Aiden Moffat had led the earlier, slower, session in his Mercedes, followed by Jordan and Tordoff.
