Red Bull aeroscreen visibility is fine says Daniel Ricciardo

Ricciardo turned a single installation lap with the device fitted during first practice, following Ferrari's trial of a halo during F1 pre-season testing.

Just as Kimi Raikkonen said the halo made "surprisingly little difference", Ricciardo's first impression of the aeroscreen was positive.

"The vision and all of that was fine, to be honest," he said.

"Where the structure is and where it's built, it's in line with the mirrors, so you're not really hindered at all, any more than now.

"Sure it's just a bit weird having that structure, so that's something you've probably got to get used to.

"But the pure visibility and seeing what was around you, what you see seemed pretty much unaltered, so that's positive.

"Sure it's different but I think the crux of it is still pretty good."

Ricciardo wore a pair of glasses fitted with a camera during the lap and the footage will be used as part of further assessment.

Based on his Sochi experience, the Australian believes the system could be adopted "quite easily", but acknowledges that more running will happen before a decision is made.

"I think the plan is to probably try it again," he said.

"Maybe on a different circuit with maybe some different scenery, maybe something with a bit more with undulation or something like that.

"A night circuit, with lights could be be interesting, how it reflects off it.

"We'll probably give it a bit more running but the first impression was that it's actually fine.

"You hop in and it feels weird, it doesn't feel normal, but once I got out there, I had a Ferrari in front and I could still see and pick where they were."
