Will Stevens and Rene Rast share WRT entry in Blancpain GT Series

Ex-Formula 1 driver Will Stevens and Audi factory racer Rene Rast will share a late entry run by the WRT Audi GT squad in this year's Blancpain GT Series.

Stevens and Rast will race a sixth WRT Audi R8 LMS entered for the BGTS Sprint Cup and a fifth car from the team in the Endurance Cup.

Their respective LMP2 programmes in the World Endurance Championship with the Manor and G-Drive/Jota teams means they will miss one Sprint round (Brands Hatch) and enduro (Nurburgring) over the course of the season.

Stevens told Autosport: "I really wanted to be busy and do a lot of racing in different disciplines this year so this gives me a good opportunity to do that.

"I hope to have a very good season alongside Rene. I want to prove myself against the best in the discipline and he is one of those."

Stevens got his first experience of a GT3 car when he drove for the Belgian team last week at Misano before completing another test at Monza.

Team-mates for Stevens have yet to be selected for the Spa 24 Hours in July when Rast will be driving a full-factory WRT entry with Laurens Vanthoor and Nico Muller.
