Troubled start to Haas's second Formula 1 test week

Haas is hopeful of getting Esteban Gutierrez back on track later on Tuesday following a troubled start to the second pre-season Formula 1 test

Gutierrez spent most of the four hours prior to lunch looking on inside the team garage at Barcelona, completing just 23 laps overall, with his best lap 3.6 seconds adrift of Mercedes' Nico Rosberg and eighth quickest.

Gutierrez conceded the unidentifiable problem was "not very straightforward", with the team working hard to fix the issue and get him back on track at some point in the afternoon.

"We've some issues we are investigating. Still we don't know what they are," added Gutierrez.

"It's good to take the time and see how things develop, but right now it could be many things. We need to investigate properly and understand the problem.

"Let's hope I can get back out. The team is pushing hard to understand the issue to help me get back out on track."

Haas enjoyed a solid first four days in the opening test, bar a front-wing failure for Romain Grosjean on the morning of day one, going on to complete 274 laps overall.

Gutierrez conceded the lack of running at the start of the second test was "not ideal", but added: "We are still in testing, we're still a new team.

"There are things happening, and they were expected to happen.

"We just need to address all the issues we have, find solutions and fix them, which is what we are here for."
