Abt Sportsline swaps from Audi to Bentley for its GT programme
The Abt team will swap from Audi to sister marque Bentley for its campaign at the Nurburgring 24 Hours and in the ADAC GT Masters series this year
The winner of five DTM titles with Audi will field a pair of works-supported Bentley Continental GT3s in the Nordschleife enduro in May and enter two cars in the German national series.
Abt Sportsline and its sister C. Abt Racing squad are making the switch after running Audis since the German manufacturer's entry into the GT3 arena in 2009, during which time the team won the ADAC GT series outright on two occasions.
The team fills the gap left by HTP Motorsport in Bentley's Nurburgring and ADAC GT roster after its switch back to Mercedes.
Bentley motorsport boss Brian Gush said: "We are pleased to welcome Abt Sportsline into the Bentley fold.
"Like Bentley, it has a very long and rich heritage in motorsport and we both strive to achieve success at the highest level."
Abt boss Hans-Jurgen Abt added: "We have a very long-standing and successful relationship with Volkswagen Group brands and we're pleased to have been able to extend this to Bentley for 2016."
Drivers have yet to be announced for the programme.
Abt's first event with its Continentals will be the opening round of the VLN long-distance championship at the Nurburgring on April 2, closely followed by the ADAC GT opener at Oschersleben two weeks later.
