Valencia MotoGP: Marc Marquez won't give Jorge Lorenzo an easy ride

Marquez's decision to keep battling with the Yamaha duo even when no longer a championship factor himself has been a key element of MotoGP's recent controversies.

Rossi felt Marquez was deliberately hampering him at both Phillip Island and Sepang - the latter the scene of their now infamous clash - while the Honda rider went to pass Lorenzo for the lead on the final lap in Australia.

When asked how he would handle the situation on Sunday if he was battling with Lorenzo for victory on the last lap, Marquez said he would not be holding back.

"It will be interesting to arrive in the final lap like this," he said.

"But if I see the space and it's clear, I will try [to pass], because in the end the best way to finish the season is with a victory.

"Like in Australia, if there is a lot of risk, we will see. If it's a closing gap or a small space, I will try."

Rossi still holds a seven-point advantage over Lorenzo, but starts from the back of the grid due to his penalty for the Sepang incident, while his team-mate claimed pole.

Honda pair Marquez and Dani Pedrosa could affect the championship battle either by battling for victory with Lorenzo or stopping Rossi getting to the second place he needs to secure the title if Lorenzo wins the race.

But Marquez admitted Honda is currently struggling for long-run pace compared to Lorenzo, as the unexpectedly high temperatures are causing it problems with tyre overheating.

"Nobody expected this temperature. We are struggling there," said Marquez.

"We've tried to change the balance of the bike to avoid these problems, but when you avoid a problem, another one is coming.

"We've tried to manage well but they say tomorrow will be a little bit colder and maybe that will help us."
