Team China Racing confirms Oliver Turvey for Formula E season

McLaren Formula 1 test and development driver Oliver Turvey will contest the full Formula E season with the championship-winning Team China Racing outfit

Briton Turvey, who made his debut in the all-electric series in last year's finale in London, will partner inaugural champion Nelson Piquet Jr in the team's fleet of NEXTEV TCR 001s.

The 28-year-old scored points in both races at Battersea Park and has partnered Piquet during pre-season testing.

"The level of competition and drivers is a strong attraction but also the technical side," he told AUTOSPORT.

"New technology is something quite exciting and you learn a lot driving different cars.

"Working in a championship where there's development of the car is something I enjoy and is one of my strengths from my engineering background and working with McLaren.

"Having Nelson alongside me will be a great benchmark and be good for me as a driver."

China team principal Steven Lu added: "We are delighted to welcome Oliver to the team.

"He put in a fantastic performance in London and is a very intelligent, talented driver.

"We believe we have the strongest driver pairing on the grid with Nelson and Oliver and are looking forward to a successful season.

"We will also help Oliver to build up his fans in China, he will be very popular from the opening race in Beijing."
