Laguna Seca Indy Lights: Pigot beats Harvey and Jones to 2015 title
Spencer Pigot secured the 2015 Indy Lights title with a commanding win in the season finale at Laguna Seca on Sunday
The Juncos driver, who seized the championship lead from Jack Harvey with his victory on Saturday, survived two restarts to cross the line more than two seconds clear of closest challenger Sean Rayhall.
Max Chilton was spun off at the first corner, but still managed to finish third ahead of Carlin team-mate Ed Jones.
Pigot's task of keeping Harvey in check was made easier by Harvey himself, who made a blinding start to go three-wide with the leaders through the first corner, only to earn himself a penalty for jumping the gun.
That put him to the rear of the field, and he was unable to recover any higher than ninth.
The other major incident happened 11 laps in, when Ethan Ringel went off and into the barrier all by himself at Turn 4.
He was unhurt, but the field was forced to circulate under yellows for several laps while the Schmidt driver's car was retrieved.
The only other driver to drop out early was Scott Anderson, who suffered a mechanical problem shortly after the start.
