Force India to introduce more new B-spec parts for Singapore F1 GP

The full potential of Force India's new B-spec car will be realised when more parts of the package appear for Formula 1's Singapore Grand Prix, according to the team

Technical director Andrew Green claims the car, that was initially introduced at Silverstone, currently only possesses half of the updates the team have had in the pipeline.

Although there were issues at the Hungarian GP, with Sergio Perez suffering a right-rear suspension failure in first practice and Nico Hulkenberg a front-wing failure in the race, Green is "optimistic" with what is to come.

"The car you've seen so far is the first step of a series of developments we will be introducing on to it over the next few races," explained Green to AUTOSPORT.

Tech: Force India's unique new car

"It's current potential won't be realised until Singapore.

"That's the race we are targeting to have the full kit on the car, the full upgrade.

"The subsequent updates include front and rear wings, floor, diffuser, so quite a big suite of parts coming.

"I would say the car is about 50 per cent of the way there at the moment as far as updates are concerned, and it will be a step-change process over the next few races."

For now Green is happy the B-spec has addressed a lack of balance in Force India's VJM08.

"It hasn't cured all the problems we had with the car and what the drivers were asking for, but it's taken a big step towards fixing it. It's improved the situation," he added.

"What we have tried to do is balance the car through all the situations, through every type of corner.

"We had a widely-imbalanced car - some corners oversteer, some understeer - so we have tried to bring that balance together to make it one.

Beyond Singapore Force India will then concentrate on looking at further updates with 2016 in mind given the regulations remain unaltered.

Green said: "If there are areas we believe can be transferred from next year's car on to this one - and there's a high probability they will - then we will do so.

"So we hope to bring updates to the very end, especially to prove out some concepts we have for next year as well.

"We'll see a lot more development in the latter half of this year compared to previous years."
