GP2 testing: Richie Stanaway fastest on final day for Status GP
GP2 newcomer Status Grand Prix ended 2015's first pre-season test on top of the timesheets, with New Zealand rookie Richie Stanaway leading the way
Stanaway was part of Status's GP3 line-up in 2014 and joined the team - which purchased the Caterham operation late last year - for the three-day Abu Dhabi test, but is yet to be confirmed for the season ahead.
Like day two pacesetter Alex Lynn, Stanaway set his time in the morning session using the super-soft compound Pirelli, with his 1m48.441s logged halfway through proceedings.
Formula Renault 3.5 graduate Pierre Gasly was second for DAMS, eclipsing Russian Time's Mitch Evans late in the session.
Evans caused one of two red flags when he stopped at Turn 9, but he finished the morning ahead of Raffaele Marciello, Alexander Rossi, Stoffel Vandoorne and Lynn.
"We made some really good improvements with the set-up over the first few days," Stanaway said, after setting the fastest time of the week.
"I could feel how good the car was this morning on old tyres which gave me full confidence when I went for a time.
"As a rookie it is pretty cool to top a GP2 session, I don't want to get ahead of myself but it is a really good starting point and now I can focus on improving even more."
Rossi found the barriers at Turn 8 during the afternoon session, in which ex-Sauber Formula 1 test driver Sergey Sirotkin set the fastest time.
The Rapax driver's 1m49.158s came in the final hour, before he stopped on track in the dying minutes.
The resulting double yellows thwarted Arthur Pic's late effort to take top spot in the slower afternoon session, while Lynn was third ahead of Nathanael Berthon, Norman Natom Rio Haryanto and Gasly.
Bahrain will host the next pre-season GP2 test on April 1-3.
