Formula 3 European Championship receives 50 entry requests for '15
Fifty entry requests have been received for the 2015 season by the organisers of the Formula 3 European Championship
Formel 3 Vermarktungs, which has run the series since it was reinstated in 2012 and before that oversaw the category's Euro Series, will now put the registrations through to a second phase.
That could mean a nervous wait for some of the 14 teams to have applied in the lead-up to the publication of the entry list on March 2.
No decision has yet been taken on a maximum entry level, with some championship insiders predicting a drop-off in entries once it becomes clear whether drivers have the finances to compete.
The 10 teams to have contested last year's championship are all represented among the entry requests: Prema Powerteam, Carlin (plus its Jagonya Ayam with Carlin squad), Van Amersfoort Racing, Mucke Motorsport, West-Tec, Jo Zeller Racing, Fortec Motorsport, EuroInternational, Double R Racing and ThreeBond with T-Sport.
Also on the list are Signature and Motopark, which both returned to top-level F3 at the end of last year.
Ma-con, which plans to revive the ORECA engine project after missing last season and Artline Engineering are the remaining teams.
By AUTOSPORT estimates, at least 15 drivers have already put 2015 European F3 deals in place, though some are yet to be officially announced.
