FR3.5 to return to the Nurburgring in 2014

Formula Renault 3.5 will return to the Nurburgring in 2014, following the announcement of next year's calendar

The return of the German circuit to the schedule after one year away is the only previously unannounced change compared to this year, as it had already been revealed that Jerez was replacing Barcelona.

However, it had not previously been confirmed that Jerez would take over the season finale slot recently held by the current Spanish Grand Prix venue.

The Nurburgring replaces Austria's Spielberg circuit on the bill, after the Red Bull-owned venue held its first World Series by Renault event in 2013.

AUTOSPORT understands that Renault was keen to visit Germany again as it is one of its biggest road car markets in Europe.

As well as headlining seven Renault-supported events, the FR3.5 cars will race at Monza (the season opener) and on the support bill of the Monaco Grand Prix.

Renault Sport Technologies director of motorsport Arnaud Boulanger said: "We've put together a calendar that offers plenty of variety and is structured around Formula 1 circuits and key markets for the Renault brand.

"The tracks selected will give drivers the best possible preparation for the challenges that await them in their careers.

"In this our 10th season we felt it was important to combine classic circuits like Spa with newcomers like Jerez."
