Corsica ERC: Jan Kopecky takes overnight lead from Bryan Bouffier
Jan Kopecky became the Tour of Corsica's fourth leader in six stages as he overhauled Bryan Bouffier to end day one on top
Bouffier had emerged in the lead after Craig Breen's mistake and Robert Kubica's mechanical problems.
But the 2011 Monte Carlo Rally winner's choice of soft tyres for the leg-concluding Erbajolo stage proved incorrect as the rain cleared faster than he expected.
That meant Kopecky's works Skoda came through 7.4 seconds faster than Bouffier's Peugeot, giving the European Rally Championship points leader a 3.6s overnight lead.
Craig Breen also went for softs and was second quickest, a mere 0.1s down on Kopecky.
That means he will go into Saturday's decisive five stages 39.8s off the lead.
Stephane Sarrazin is 15s behind Breen in his Mini.
