Corsica ERC: Kubica takes lead after Breen mistake

Robert Kubica leads the Tour of Corsica after a mistake from Craig Breen eradicated the Peugeot driver's comfortable advantage

Breen had stretched his advantage to 26 seconds by claiming a third straight stage win as the event resumed after service on Barchetta on Friday afternoon.

But on the following Taverna stage, Breen ran wide and hit a bank, sustaining a puncture.

The Irishman was utterly despondent as he lost over a minute while nursing the damaged car to the stage finish.

Kubica came through fastest, not only taking the lead, but stretching his margin over Bryan Bouffier and Jan Kopecky in what is now a very close lead battle.

The Pole's Citroen is seven seconds ahead of Bouffier's Peugeot, with Kopecky's Skoda less than a second and a half further back.

Breen continued in fifth place, 56s off the lead and 18s behind fourth-placed Stephane Sarrazin's Mini.
